Children Create Cuisine with Chef Bernard Gautier
June 21, 2010 (TYLER, TX) – The fine art of French cooking will be the focus of a special event hosted by Bernard Restaurant in Tyler on Saturday, June 26 from 12 to 2 p.m. Chef and restaurant owner Bernard Gautier will explain tasty secrets of preparing simple French favorites like croque monsieur to children ages 6 and up. This special event is being held in conjunction with the Tyler Museum of Art’s summer exhibition, Babar’s Museum of Art, on view now through August 22.
“French Cooking with Bernard” is one of the numerous partnership events being offered to the community in connection with Babar’s Museum of Art. “Many different organizations and individuals from around the community and region have generously offered their talents and resources to help the Museum bring exciting and educational programming to the community,” said Mr. Ken Tomio, Head of Education for the TMA. “Babar’s story takes place in France, and because of his background, Bernard is perfectly suited to help us bring a taste of French culture and cuisine to Tyler’s Babar fans.”
Participants of the event may collect stamps to add to their Babar “passports,” a free publication from the Tyler Museum of Art created for young visitors of the exhibition and related events and activities. Visitors may pick up a copy of the twenty-page “passport” at the TMA and other community organizations, such as Bernard Restaurant, that are hosting Babar events throughout the summer months.
Designed to look similar to a United States passport, the TMA’s “passport” lists information about the summer of Babar, including a calendar of events, community partner organization information, and event descriptions. Participants are encouraged to use their “passport” as a guide and will be able to receive stickers at all participating venues. Fill your “passport”, and you can enter to win a grand prize drawing at the close of the exhibition. The “passport” was sponsored in part by Travel Leaders in Tyler.
