A Naturalist’s Impression

Works by Janet Turner

December 12, 2025 – March 8, 2026

Organized by the Tyler Museum of Art, this exhibition celebrates Janet Turner (1914-1988) and her lifelong interest in capturing the natural world through the art of printmaking.

Regarded as a master printer, she was well versed in multiple printmaking techniques including serigraphy, linocut, engraving, aquatint and lithography. In addition to an array of works on paper, a selection of hand-carved linoleum blocks shed light on the artist’s printmaking process.

Turner lived and worked in Nacogdoches from 1947 to 1956, teaching printmaking at Stephen F. Austin State University. During her prolific career, she had over 200 solo exhibitions on 6 continents.
