While East Texas Giving Day is on Tuesday, April 30, early giving has already begun! Support our Education Department and its many programs by making a donation here. With matching funds in place, your donation will go even further!
Inspiring creativity since 1971, the Tyler Museum of Art presents exceptional and diverse fine art exhibitions for Tyler, the East Texas region, and beyond. To ‘Bring the Art Alive’ for our community, the TMA’s Education Department presents a variety of educational experiences for museumgoers of all ages. These programs help deepen the understanding of the art on view as well as encourage creative thinking in all aspects of life. With your help, we can continue these programs and expand our reach!
For school children and their educators, we provide free school tours accompanied by hands-on art activities. Additionally, the TMA annually presents the Day of the Dead Middle School Art Exhibition and the Annual High School Art Exhibition (on view now through May 19).
For families, our ongoing Family Day is a monthly staple. In addition to offering free admission all day on the second Saturday of the month, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., we offer art activities and light refreshments in our classroom. This summer our Summer Studios program will take place every Wednesday afternoon throughout June and July. Young artists and their families are invited to stop in our classroom from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. and create a unique work of art. Each week the program will focus on a different medium and technique.
For adults, we provide First Friday Tours each and every month. Starting at 11:00 a.m. on the first Friday of the month, a free guided tour of the exhibitions is led by a docent. Throughout the year, lectures related to current exhibitions are also given by artists and authors.
All of this and more is at no charge to attendees. With your help, we can ‘Bring the Art Alive’ for many! |
